Description: A small color accent tree with rich deep purple foliage from mid-summer onwards and very attractive racemes of white flowers in spring followed by small, astringent black cherries.
Ornamental Features: Fragrant white flowers.Deep purple foliage which emerges green in spring. Leaves turn red in the fall. Black fruits are held in abundance, excellent for making jams and jellies and wine-making. Self-pollinating.
Landscape Attributes: Deciduous tree with a more or less rounded form. Best pruned in late winter. It is a good choice for attracting birds to your yard.
