Viewing

If you would like to look at plant material that is on our pre-order prior to delivery or installation, it can be viewed at Countryside Garden Centre on or about April 1 (weather pending). Please call the office 403.938.1835 to inquire.

Warranty

We guarantee all of our plant material to be healthy and hardy for this region.

Pre-order plant material that is installed by Countryside comes with a 2 year warranty. All pre-order plant material that is picked up or delivered by Countryside comes with a 1 year warranty. Please ask if you would like more information on the proper planting, watering and care of your new trees and shrubs.

Installation

All installations by Countryside require a clearance of 7-8’.

All installations include root-starter fertilizer, Mycorrhizae*, and fresh soil if required.

All lines and utilities must be marked by Alberta One Call prior to installation.

* Mycorrhizae are specialized fungi that colonize plant roots and increase the nutrient uptake of the plant.

Hardi Macintosh Apple

One of the most famous hardy red apples, excellent for cooking, keeps well; the perfect combination of accent and fruit tree, very hardy, needs well-drained soil and full sun.

Ornamental Attributes:
Macintosh Apple features showy clusters of lightly-scented white flowers with shell pink overtones along the branches in mid spring, which emerge from distinctive pink flower buds. It has forest green foliage throughout the season. The pointy leaves turn yellow in fall. The fruits are showy red pomes carried in abundance in early fall, which are excellent for fresh eating and cooking and baking but which can be messy if allowed to drop on the lawn or walkways. This variety requires a different selection of the same species growing nearby in order to set fruit.

Landscape Attributes:
Macintosh Apple is a deciduous tree with a more or less rounded form. Its average texture blends into the landscape, but can be balanced by one or two finer or coarser trees or shrubs for an effective composition.

Macintosh Apple is recommended for the following landscape applications;
